From burden to honor

Frustration…

For those of you on the journey with multicultural worship know how stressful it can be.  It seems like adding to an already busy schedule of picking music, coordinating volunteers, and running rehearsal…now we’re adding multicultural dynamics to the picture.

But much of that stress comes because we’re overcomplicating the privilege that we have to be part of God’s wonderful plan.

Some of the things you may say to yourself when multicultural worship becomes a burden are:
I have to find a song that’s in another language.
I have to find a keyboard player to make this song sound more gospel.
I have to find someone who can pray in another language.
I have to do more with less.

As you can see our from the statements above our passions have turned into a task, instead of seeing it as a great honor.

Honor…

Worship isn’t about just the music anymore.  It’s not about just the preaching anymore.  It’s not about just the church leadership anymore.  It’s about the whole Church.

For the first time, in a long time, God has called us to recognize and value ALL the people that make up the Body.

So those same phrases that come out of frustration turn into:
I have the honor of finding a song that’s in another language.
have the honor of finding a keyboard player to make this song sound more gospel.
have the honor of finding someone who can pray in another language.
have the honor of fully utilizing what God’s given me.

Lesson…

It’s not that multicultural worship is complicated.  It’s that multicultural worship is complex with many moving parts, but that’s how God designed the Body.  And we get to play a part in having a FULLY FUNCTIONAL Body.

Share your story and your life…
