My family…

I’ve been married to my lovely wife since August 2003.  And we have a wonderful 1.5 yr. old named Gabe.

My background…

I grew up in the Korean Church.  My parents always went to church.  In fact, on Saturdays, I went to Korean school so that I could learn more about the language and culture.

I accepted Christ at a very young age watching a preacher on television.  I remember kneeling before the Lord and lifting my hands as I accepted Christ into my heart.

It was until I was 16 yrs. old that I made a commitment to follow Christ.  A good friend of mine, Sang Lee, asked me if I wanted to learn guitar and help out with the praise and worship team.  After thinking about it for a week or two I decided to go for it.

We’d spend many Friday and Saturday nights praising God in a practice space until the late hours of the night.  I learned to break out of my comfort zone and be in front of people.

During college, I got involved with Campus Crusade for Christ.  As a first year college student, I got a chance to be part of the worship team and help lead worship.

But it was during my time in college that I began to feel lonely.  In La Crosse, Wisconsin there weren’t many Koreans.  This college town mainly had Caucasians and Hmong people.

I believe this longing to in my heart would later help create the desire to bridge the gap between cultures.

How Redemption Boulevard, Inc. got started….

I had given up the idea of becoming a worship leader on staff at a church.  In fact, I accepted the life I was given, working overnight at the bank.

But during one of those nights I felt God was calling me to start a ministry.  I had no idea what that would mean.

I thought I would work with high school worship teams, but just didn’t feel right.  After months of trial and error I realized I needed to take my experience as a multicultural worship leader and help others.  This was around March of 2009.

Since then, I’ve shifted my focus to writing about the stories people have in the multicultural church, people issues, and practical ideas we can incorporate in a multicultural worship setting.

I’m committed to developing the next generation of multiethnic worshippers.  Won’t you join me in the journey?

Share your story and your life…

Sincerely,
